There are more LEGO mini-figures in the world than there are real people.
The name LEGO comes from 2 Danish words “Leg” which means to “play” and “Godt” which means “well”. Play Well.
LEGO was originally wooden toys created by a Danish carpenter – Ole Kirk Christiansen – in the depths of the Great Depression as a way of trying to make a living.
The colourful little bricks were launched in 1949, the clicking coupling system in 1958.
In some families, the parents are more into LEGO than their children even! Such is the enduring affection for LEGO.
